This has been one of the "interesting" bits of learning/accepting/growing in this new season in my life -- but thankfully for me it has been both a releasing and a welcoming-in -- people who were more on the peripheral of my existence finding their way into "more bandwidth" with me... and people that i had assumed would remain where they were (or get closer) fading away... all choices have to be acknowledged and woven into the fabric of my present.
Naively, i continue to believe that i am doing well, not needing much (continuing the "i can do it myself" independence phase, with much joy in that competence) -- realizing that it's beautiful and a blessing that i am as healthy as i am, able to work part-time and for the most part manage the basics of living... the people who are chipping in make things easier in wonderful ways.... but sometimes it is MORE the love than the effort that i crave... so the people who send me an email from afar can often make things easier in profound ways too, reminding me of the community that i am a part of.
Whenever someone says to me "i'm not DOing enough for you!" i giggle -- believing it is perfect! there is quite likely to come a season when i need the active support and effort of more of my friends to get by... but for the moment, celebrate with me that there isn't a list of things that needs to be done!

Bea,
ReplyDeleteI still marvel at your gift for beautiful prose. I'm just sorry it took a major illness for me to reach out and get to know your inner spirit. I'm one of those who wishes I were there to spend time with you and enjoy a piece of the day with you. I'm a DOer, and oftentimes I have to remember God created human BEings, not human DOings!
Thanks for spending time on this virtual page to just BEA (ha ha) with us.
With love,
Cindy
