Others are chocked full with love and friendship and talking... and hectic and sweet for the energy they bring to me
this was one of the latter.
From an early morning meet-for-coffee date with my friends from American Express (yes, i worked there a decade ago now!!! and Heidi and Rosemary remain quite dear to me and i'm delighted to see them whenever i can... )
anyway, then on to cohost a baby shower to welcome Cole into the Hezseltine household... Thomas and Kylee are going to have a well-dressed son (it was a delightful surprise to see all the cute boy clothes {i used to think that boys got a bit of a short shrift... and that girls options were much more varied... but Kylee's shower demonstrated that there are some awesome choices out there for boys}) I loved seeing people and catching up as well as congratulate the upcoming parents. My hosting duties were mild and mainly monetary (which suits my energy level perfectly!!!!) I loved being able to contribute to the experience, and the creativity that went into a star-wars themed party -- for the food and favors and awesome chalkboard decoration tied it all together. Now the baby just needs to get here so that we can cuddle in person -- but i guess we'll all be IMpatient for his healthy arrival in January...
Then my life-long friend Peggy graced my home for a couple nights... we were both giggling as she left this morning at how chatty we were and how amazing it is to have not seen one another for WAY TOO LONG and still know how much there is to talk about -- especially since we are both quilters. she looked at my mountain of WIPs (work in progress), gave me some advice/therapy on several i was stuck on, agreed with me on others that i had doubts, showed me her lovely WIP for her mom -- a butterfly quilt that she will bind while she is in Colorado visiting. We picked up so many conversational threads as though we were together just recently, and both of us agreed we SHOULD make getting together again soon a priority -- life long connections with love and respect are so precious!!!
Sunday we traveled partway to Brenda's house (Brenda, Peggy, and I all went to the same high school). the server at Chili's laughed and laughed at how long we stayed... asked us if we wanted to continue to talk and order dinner too!

since it celebrates friendship and that is often what keeps me sane and able to cope with the less-than pleasant aspects of my world
so thank you, all those who contributed to my weekend nurturing... my heart is full!
